People of the Bridge - A Poetry and Art Collaboration

Inspired by WB Yeats' Celtic Twilight, these prose poems and paintings affirm our Irish/Scottish/Southern African heritage and remind us of the rich, vibrant and dynamic folklore that can be used to create a country of the mind.

Some of the poems mention Jungian archetypes, specifically in the form of Sidhe (shee) folk and other Celtic deities. Such allegories of mind are perhaps elements of consciousness itself, perhaps as an alternative form of instinct, but placed in a liminal zone are best read from that perspective, as entwined dualisms. They are travellers on the long wave between the Irish literary Renaissance and life in the twenty-first century.

Producing this book was a tremendous joy to us and we trust those who choose to read it will find the prose richly evocative and thought-provoking, and the paintings alluring and strangely familiar, as if deeply stored memories from long ago.
